Did you know carousel horses were once used to train cavalry soldiers?
The Cape relishes in the history of carousel rides. You can find them at the Cape Cod Carousel and Funhouse Arcade, Island Carousel at Cape Cod Mall and the Flying Horse Carousel in Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard - just to name a few.
The Flying Horse was built in 1876 by Charles Dare and is the oldest carousel in the U.S. - it only costs $1.50 for a ride and kids and adults love it.

The hand carved carousel at Heritage Museum and Gardens is another historic carousel. It was crafted in 1912 by Charles Looff and rides are free with museum admission.

What public beaches on Cape Cod allow alcohol?
I'm considering an evening/night barbecue on the beach for a bachelor party. As you might expect there will be alcohol. While looking for fire permit information I started stumbling on to "no alcohol" rules for each beach I check. I hear that many beaches are routinely checked by police at night so I certainly don't want to just "go for it" and get shut down.
Are there public beaches on Cape Cod that do allow alcohol? Which ones?

Drinking in public is pretty much illegal everywhere. However, having spent extensive time on cape cod near provincetown, I cant imagine it being a problem. If I were to suggest a nice beach it would be on the ocean (as opposed to bay) side of North Truro. It is very unpopulated, being less known than Provincetown. I would say Head of the Meadow Beach or Long Nook Beach. Very awesome landscape too with high sand dune cliffs. No one should really bother you about alcohol, as it is somewhat desolate and dark at night. I think they are more concerned in provincetown where gay people litter up the beaches with condoms, or so ive read in an article
